Selection criteria:
In making the recommendations, the selection committee considers academic achievement. Preference is given to applicants who intend to complete at least 120 points of study at the University and those who intend to carry out research in one of the sciences.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered.
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students who have completed the requirements to graduate with an MSc, BSc(Hons) or bachelor's degree from a New Zealand university and who intend to carry out research or postgraduate study in one of the sciences at the University of Canterbury.
Tenure: Typically one year
The scholarship will be awarded by the University of Canterbury Council, on the recommendation of a Selection Committee, comprising: a. the Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) and b. the Dean of Science (or nominee).
In recommending the award, the Committee will consider academic achievement.
Applications for the scholarship must be made to the University of Canterbury Scholarships Office, on the approved form available from the Scholarships website, no later than 5pm on 1 November, or, if this is not a business day, by 5pm on the next business day.
