Selection criteria:
In making the recommendations, the selection committee considers: a. academic achievement, with particular reference to the quality of achievement in courses in Economics/Finance, Mathematics, and Statistics or other areas of applied mathematics. Preference is given to applicants whose transcripts show a strong background in Mathematics or in Statistics or other areas of applied mathematics.
If, in any year, there are fewer candidates of sufficient merit than there are scholarships available, fewer scholarships are awarded.
The purpose of the scholarship is to recognise academic achievement in subjects based on pure and applied Mathematics at the undergraduate level and supports students of Economics and Finance at the University of Canterbury.
Tenure: Two years
Applicable enrolment during tenure: Full-time enrolment in the final year of a programme for an undergraduate degree with a major in either Economics or Finance (or both), followed by full-time enrolment in the first year of a programme for an Honours or Master's degree with a major in either Economics or Finance (or both)
