BSc (Hons) Ecology and Conservation

As a graduate with practical, hands-on experience, youll be equipped to work in ecology or conservation with governments, environment agencies and research establishments.

Individuals, organisations and governments around the world are increasingly concerned about the welfare of our planet and everything on it. This is true in every environment where many factors, including human behaviour, have left a large number of species at risk. Our course allows you to develop a deep understanding of concerns relating to the various environments in the world, and to look at ways of resolving those concerns. Youll also learn about biodiversity locally and around the world, and explore conservation ecology, which aims to support, recover and maintain populations and their habitats.

Cambridge is becoming a world centre for wildlife conservation, with Fauna and Flora International, Birdlife International and the World Conservation Monitoring Centre based here. Throughout our BSc (Hons) Ecology and Conservation degree, youll have opportunities to attend lectures in the city and visit specialist museums and libraries.

Our students have undertaken final year projects, placements and summer internships with a range of organisations including (but certainly not limited to) Natural England, Shepreth Wildlife Park, Woburn Safari Park, wildlife trusts and the Cambridge Museum of Zoology. We also engage in Live Briefs with the Wildlife Trust, Therfield Heath and Cambridge City Council.

112 UCAS Tariff points from a minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent), including a pass in Biology.
3 GCSEs at grade C, or grade 4, or above, including English and Maths.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.0 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Alternatives
BTEC Extended Diploma in Animal Management at grade Distinction, Merit, Merit (112 UCAS Tariff Points) is accepted. Applicants must have also successfully completed specific modules (listed at the foot of this page).
BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science at grade Distinction, Merit, Merit is accepted.
UCAS Tariff Points from Access to HE Diplomas in one of the following subjects are accepted: Animal Management, Biological Science, Biological and Environmental Science, Combined Science, Environmental Science, Applied Science, Science for Health Practitioners, Land-Based Studies. Harlow College Access to HE Diploma: Life Science is also accepted.
BTEC Extended Diploma in Marine Biology and Ecology at grade Distinction, Merit, Merit is accepted.
City and Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Animal Management with a final grade of Distinction. Applicants must have also successfully completed specific modules, please contact the Admissions office at admissions@anglia.ac.uk for further information.
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points is accepted, this must include Biology at Higher level.
UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Advanced Highers are accepted, this must include a Pass in a related subject.
UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Highers are accepted, this must include a Pass in a related subject.
UCAS Tariff points acquired from the International Baccalaureate Certificate are accepted, this must include Biology at Higher level.
UCAS Tariff points from the Irish Leaving Certificate are accepted, this must include a Pass at Higher level in a related subject.
The European Baccalaureate at a minimum overall grade of 60% is accepted, this must include Biology at Higher level.

IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each element.
TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
