Melbourne Polytechnic has been offering vocational education since 1912. It also provides TAFE, certificate programmes, diploma programmes and higher education programmes for international students. Melbourne Polytechnic International Office can assist students with the submission of their application and is the single point of contact for all queries — once the application is received. There is no fee charged for submission of an application. Fees are only charged once enrolment is confirmed.
Melbourne Polytechnic offers students a range of services, facilities and learning resources across its campuses. It is home to six libraries, learning services, conference facilities, restaurants and much more.
The bookshop is part of the Co-op, Australia's largest provider of textbooks and is owned and operated by its members. The Co-op is located in over 60 universities and learning institutions across Australia. Students can order books anytime online and, as a bonus, orders over AUD 50 are shipped free of charge.
The David Williamson Theatre is located within the Prahran Campus on High Street and is a preferred choice for events and productions.
There are six comprehensive libraries and each campus library contains various spaces to suit different learning styles. The libraries have PCs and laptops, wireless and internet access, printing, copying and scanning, collections of books, periodicals (print and online) and other course-related materials and texts such as videos, magazines and computer software available to students. It also has an extensive suite of e-resources available for use day or night. There is also information on literacy programmes to ensure students acquire the necessary skills to succeed in their studies and career.
Melbourne Polytechnic has two fully equipped training restaurants where students can learn the art of commercial cookery, hospitality or grab a bite to eat.

The International Office aims to bring positivity, joy and value to the student experience at Melbourne Polytechnic. It builds close relationships with students – beginning well before they come to Australia and all the way to post graduation.
The International Student Induction and Orientation programme will help international students make a successful transition to studying in Melbourne. The Student Life and Media team of Melbourne Polytechnic organises several orientation activities and social events that help new students integrate with the Melbourne Polytechnic community.
Students will be equipped with the skills required to succeed in their respective professions by utilising the free learning support offered by the institute. YouTutor – an online tutor service that's free of charge and individual study skills support (with specific qualified teachers) are a few of the learning support services that international students can benefit from.

Melbourne Polytechnic requires the successful completion of studies equivalent to Australian Year 11 and Year 12 education as the minimum level of entry into most certificate, diploma and degree programmes.
Students who do not possess the academic level entry requirements set by Melbourne Polytechnic, but have knowledge or skills relevant to the programme chosen, can apply as mature age students. A student who has not been involved in full-time education for a minimum of one year and is above 18 years of age, is considered to be a mature student.
All international students are required to meet the standard of English language proficiency set by Melbourne Polytechnic listed below. The institution also accepts other evidence that certify English language proficiency in individual cases after appropriate documents are submitted.
Students are required to successfully complete one of the following no more than two years prior to the application date – unless specified otherwise.
Melbourne Polytechnic scholarships are awarded on a range of criteria, such as merit, the area of study or personal circumstances. Available scholarships differ from semester to semester and year to year.
This awards between 10-20 per cent off tuition fees, depending on the student's academic merit and background.
This is a new scholarship which has been created to support international students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Helping international students begin studies remotely while the Australian borders are closed, the scholarship awards a partial discount on tuition for online studies in the first semester. If the borders remain closed past the first semester, the scholarship will be renewed.
