Oregon State University (OSU) provides students with the West Coast's most valuable degree. Students, faculty and alumni focus on the science of sustainable ecosystems, health and wellness, economic prosperity and social progress. OSU is home to more than 30,000 students, including almost 3,000 international learners from 95+ countries. There are hundreds of clubs, societies and organizations to join as a student. There are also many opportunities to enjoy life outside of the classroom.

Nearly 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs are delivered through 11 colleges, the Graduate School and the Honors College. The programs at OSU provide students with hands-on learning. This is because OSU isn't a lecture-only institution, but a place to kickstart a long and rewarding career.

Students can choose from a number of Pathway programs, as well as undergraduate and graduate programs:

International Direct

Students enrolled in this program will begin as degree-seeking students and receive the support they require to succeed, including an individual study plan and personalized advice and guidance.

International Year One

Students enrolled in this program will earn degree credits while they improve their academic and English language skills. Students can complete a Pathway program suited to their English proficiency levels for up to four semesters.

Undergraduate Transfer Program

Students who've completed college or university-level courses and wish to transfer to OSU can enroll in the Undergraduate Transfer Program. This program allows students to transfer their university credits over to their OSU degree.

Direct Entry Graduate

Students who satisfy the minimum academic requirements of holding a bachelor's degree, alongside the minimum English language proficiency level, will be able to apply directly to OSU for entry into a postgraduate program.

Graduate Pathway Program

This Pathway will equip international students with the academic and language skills they need for successful study at the master's level. If required, they will also complete GMAT/GRE test preparation.

Master's International Direct

Students enrolled in this program will be provided non-competitive direct entry to a select set of OSU master's degrees. Students will also receive academic and advising support during their first term.

Academic English Program

This Pathway is dedicated to developing students' English language skills, as well as their academic and critical thinking skills.

Study Abroad with English

This program allows international students to experience university life in the US. The program combines academic English study with the chance to explore undergraduate courses. Students can earn credits without committing to a full degree program.

Entry requirements can vary according to each program:

International Direct

To be eligible for this course, students will need to demonstrate attainment of a high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent and program-specific requirements.

A minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or a minimum TOEFL score of 70, or its equivalent is required.

International Year One

Applicants will need to demonstrate attainment of a high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent and program-specific requirements.

A minimum IELTS score of 5.0, or a minimum TOEFL score of 50 or its equivalent is required.

Undergraduate Transfer Program

Applicants will need to transfer from a recognized institution with a minimum of 15-quarter or 12-semester credits, and a minimum college/university GPA of 2.25.

A minimum IELTS score of 5.0, or a minimum TOEFL score of 50 or its equivalent is required.

Direct Entry Graduate

Evidence of a minimum GPA of 3.0, as well as a bachelor's degree is required. Additional tests and materials may be required.

A minimum IELTS score of 7.0, a minimum TOEFL score of 91 (18 minimum sub scores) or equivalent is required.

Graduate Pathway

Applicants will need to demonstrate the completion of a first degree, diploma or equivalent; have the equivalent GPA of 2.5 to 3.0; and meet other specific program requirements.

A minimum IELTS 6.0 or minimum TOEFL 70 or its equivalent is required.

Master's International Direct

Completion of a first degree, diploma or equivalent; have the equivalent GPA of 3.0; and meet other specific program requirements.

A minimum IELTS (6.5 with 5.5 sub-scores) or minimum TOEFL (80 with 18 sub scores) is required.

Visiting International Student Program

Evidence of a high school diploma with 3.0 GPA or the completion of at least one year of study at a university overseas with a minimum 2.25 GPA is required.

A minimum IELTS score of 6.5, a minimum TOEFL score of 80 (minimum 16 sub scores) or equivalent is required.

Oregon State University has an impressive range of scholarships available for high-achieving international students. These awards are available to assist with the cost of tuition and other aspects of student life.

OSU Undergraduate Scholarships

For International Year One, Undergraduate Transfer Program, undergraduate first-year and Transfer students:

• Provost's Scholarships for Excellence - Offering USD 6,000 per year for up to four years. No application is required since academic excellence is the qualifying criteria for this scholarship.
• Regional Scholarship - Offering up to USD 8,000 in the first year. This is a one-time award. There is no application process, with the award dependent on availability for particular regions.
• Continued Success Scholarship - Offering between USD 3,000 to USD 5,000 annually for up to three years. No application is needed with the award based on academic performance and GPA.
• Regional Awards – These are available for multiple regions. The amounts vary, with the maximum value being USD 64,000. The availability and amount are dependent on the region. For more information, please visit the scholarship page on OSU's website

OSU Graduate Scholarships

For Graduate Pathway and Master's International Direct students:

• Regional Scholarship - Offering up to USD 7,500 in the first year. This is a one-time award. There is no application process, and the scholarship is subject to availability based on region.

• Continued Success Scholarship – Offering USD 3,000 to USD 5,000 for up to two years. No application is needed with the award based on academic performance and GPA.

Students who wish to apply for an award should contact the relevant part of the university administration to find more about the scholarship and its criteria. Students need to be accepted into a program at OSU prior to receiving an award.

INTO OSU students have access to the many great facilities and resources that can be found throughout campus.

Library

OSU's impressive libraries are accessible 24/7 through chat, email or telephone. Expert librarians can answer all student questions and help them access the resources they need.

Sports

OSU prides itself on offering an impressive range of sporting facilities. It's home to the campus gym, a 23-meter pool and a climbing wall. Students can also access the Dixon Recreation Center, where they can participate in intramural sports.

Accommodation

The university's halls of residence are the ideal place for international students to relax and socialize. They're conveniently located near central campus facilities and classrooms. All accommodation options are fully furnished and are equipped with modern kitchens and social spaces. Single gender areas are also available. Students will benefit from resident advisors and live-in staff who can assist with any issues that may arise.

Dining

OSU's campus boasts more than 30 restaurants and dozens of cafes for students to enjoy in-between classes. These establishments cater to various dietary requirements and span a large number of cuisines, so students are sure to find what they're looking for. Students can also order food through the Starship app (available on Android and iOS).

Pathway success

INTO OSU offers international students who want to pursue higher education at a US institution the chance to fulfill the entry requirements. In 2019-2020, 91 percent of all students enrolled in a Pathway program successfully completed their programs and were eligible to progress to degree-level study at Oregon State University.

Degree study at OSU

It pays to progress to a degree program at OSU. Bachelor's degree holders are in the top 20 percent of best paid graduates in America, according to Payscale College Salary Report 2021.

While pursuing a degree at OSU, students can take advantage of the various career-enhancing services on offer. There are also many internship opportunities, allowing students to stand out in a competitive job market upon graduation.

More than 130 companies participate in OSU's internship program. MECOP helps place students in paid internships in fields like engineering, tech and business. Students can intern with industry giants like Boeing, HP, Oracle and Intel.
