Academic Upgrading

The Academic Upgrading program helps open doors to further education and better employment. You can upgrade academic skills to meet entrance requirements for post-secondary programs, earn a High School Equivalency diploma and prepare for entry into the workplace. Academic Upgrading courses can be taken individually on an as-needed basis to meet entrance requirements for post-secondary programs or as a pathway to achieve a High School Equivalency Diploma. These courses are recognized by the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT) as Alberta Education high school equivalencies.

The Academic Upgrading program gives you an opportunity to learn on campus, online or in a blend of both. Additional learning support is provided by tutoring services tailored to your needs.

Submit your official documents to RDC by the document deadlines per the chart at the top of the page. Documents should include:
Secondary school transcripts
Post-secondary school transcripts.

IELTS - 6.5 with at least 5.5 on each band score. TOEFL (overall score) - 83 IBT, 557PBT.

To be accepted into the program, you must:

be 18 years of age or over
complete the application package and assessment
have a personal interview with Department members
have previous work experience, through work experience training or a previous job
a sincere desire to acquire employment skills through community based work experiences.
