Certificate in Educational Assistant

As an Educational Assistant, youll work alongside teachers and other professionals to help students get the most out of their learning. This ten-month program will give you the tools and knowledge you need to start your rewarding career. Educational Assistants are a vital part of the educational team in today's schools and classrooms. In this program, you will learn the theory, skills and strategies to provide effective academic, behavioral and emotional student support in an inclusive setting. Youll also complete two practicums where you will apply the theory youve learned in real classroom situations, under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.

Courses are offered online, on-campus or in a blend of these options, providing you with choice and flexibility, based on how you prefer to learn. Full-time or part-time study is available.

To complete the program in one-year, full-time study must begin in Fall term. Part-time students can begin in Fall, Winter or Spring terms.

Students applying to Educational Assistant must have a minimum of 50% in:

ELA 30-1, or equivalent

OR

A minimum of 65% in:

ELA 30-2, or equivalent

OR

A minimum score of 250 on the Reading component, 250 on the Writing component and 5 on the WritePlacer Test.

OR

Previous completion of three College-level courses with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

IELTS Academic - 6.5 with at least 5.5 on each band score.
