Doctor of Philosophy in Computational and Applied Mathematics

Upon completing the PhD degree in the field of Computational and Applied Mathematics, students will be able to: Solve problems using advanced foundational knowledge. Conduct an independent research program. Communicate professionally and effectively in writing and when speaking. The Department of Computational and Applied Math offers a master of art and a doctoral degree. A thesis is required for both degrees. Typically, the M.A. degree is a step towards the Ph.D. Students whose ultimate goal is a Ph.D. should directly apply to the CAAM Ph.D. program. The department also offers M.C.A.A.M. and M.C.S.E. degrees for students interested in a technical career path in industry or business. It normally takes two years to obtain a master's and an additional two to four years for the doctoral degree.

Three to four letters of recommendation are required from individuals preferably professors or research advisors who are familiar with your work in computational and applied mathematics or other scientific fields.
