RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics)Bachelor of Business double degree combines the latest in mechatronics technologies, systems engineering and additive manufacturing with the ability to gain skills in a related business area, such as international business, economics or management. You'll learn to design, build and operate smart systems relevant to the aerospace, automotive, food processing and electronics industries, and oversee the development of large-scale, global manufacturing facilities.
With knowledge and skills in engineering and business, you’ll be uniquely placed to succeed within the globalised engineering economy. As a graduate, you'll demonstrate skills across engineering, mechatronics, design, finance and global businesses and be able to communicate your unique ideas to others, as well as continue to learn as a professional engineer.
Your studies will include electronic system design, machine intelligence and robotics – combined with the global economy, business analytics or logistics and supply chain, as your interest dictates. You will be able to take a broader view of engineering systems, utilising your knowledge of markets and management. You'll have the opportunity to put theory into practice through capstone projects, industry placements, and participation in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge – a humanitarian-focused subject offered in all RMIT engineering degrees.
The School of Engineering, and the College of Business and Law, have extensive links with industry through their Industry Advisory Committees, with members drawn from external industry and professional institutions. The committees provide feedback and input into the curriculum, ensuring the degree remains relevant to your needs as a graduate and to the needs of employers. Before graduating, you are strongly encouraged to complete at least 10 weeks of engineering industry experience. This allows you to gain first-hand experience in a real-world environment under the supervision of a practising professional engineer. The nature and timing of this experience can take a range of forms.
