Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and Therapy

The graduate program in behavior analysis and therapy is an award-winning, comprehensive course of study that involves classroom instruction, clinical experience and a wide variety of research opportunities. With an emphasis on taking the lessons learned in coursework out into real-world practical settings, earning a Master of Science in BAT provides graduates with a firm foundation for careers assisting diverse populations. With options for both on-campus and fully online learning, this degree is open to students of all backgrounds.

The program emphasizes empirically based development and application of learning principles to a wide range of situations. Our rigorous program prepares students to work with a wide range of ages and populations and to help people with disabilities. Our coursework satisfies the content requirements so students can become Board Certified Behavior Analysts

2.7 (on a grading scale with 4.0=A, approximately a B- average) on the last two years of Bachelor's coursework, 3.0 on all previous graduate work (approximately a B average). An applicant was awarded a Master's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States and has been in residence in the United States continuously prior to application to SIU (not out of the country for more than one calendar year). You have a minimum of 60 graded (A, B, C) hours of recent coursework completed at an accredited college / university in the United States with continuous residence in the United States prior to application at SIU. Pass / Fail, Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory, or Proficiency credit is not acceptable. The English language requirement may be met by submitting: 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 80 on the internet-based TOEFL, 6.5 on the IELTS
This program application is for students who are seeking a master's degree in behavior analysis and want to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA, 5th edition). Prerequisites include obtaining a bachelor's degree in any field. Bachelor's degrees that are the easiest to transition to this master's program include the following: Behavior Analysis and Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Services, Human Services and Education. The Behavior Analysis and Therapy program requires potential students to meet an American grade point average of 2.7 or above.
