Professional Science Master's in Applied Sociology - Data Analysis

The Professional Science Master's (P.S.M.) degree in Applied Sociology is designed to train research professionals in a wide range of social research methods and data analysis. Students take a set of core courses in research design, quantitative methods, qualitative methods, and research ethics, as well as additional methods courses as electives. Become proficient in a range of social research methods with the Professional Science Master's in Applied Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University. Examine social behaviors and environments according to several theoretical and practical approaches, with emphasis on statistical and data analysis. Develop the diverse skill set needed to perform applied research in public and private firms as well as government agencies. The 31-credit Applied Sociology PSM program, which is affiliated with the American Sociological Association, builds advanced training across a slate of core courses focused on data analysis, qualitative methods, research design, research ethics and statistics. Students are encouraged to participate in seminars in other social science disciplines, including anthropology, criminal justice, gender, sexuality and women's studies, geography and urban studies, history, political science, and psychology.

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: A baccalaureate degree is required.

Standardized Test Scores:
GRE: Required.
Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master's degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:
TOEFL iBT: 100
IELTS Academic: 7.0
Writing Sample: The writing sample should demonstrate your ability to conduct research and write a scholarly paper. The paper may be on any topic, and no more than 25 pages in length. It must be fully referenced according to a professional and scholarly style.
Resume: Current resume or curriculum vitae required.
The minimum admissions standard for all graduate students is ordinarily an undergraduate grade point average of B or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the functional equivalent for students who have attended universities outside of the United States.
