Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) - History

Wars, revolutions, conflicts and diasporas, nations, empires, economies, environments, cultures, emotions and people – in history, there are no no-go areas and no questions off limits. Historians use evidence from the past to ask fundamental questions about humanity. Through learning about the past, we illuminate the present. Studying history will immerse you in discovery, debate, discussion, understanding, surprise and awe, and it will require of you rigour, reason, questioning, imagination and passion. You will be part of the process by which humanity’s memory itself comes to be made.

Its scope spans millennia, its object of study is humanity, its sources are everywhere and everything. History’s endeavour is unashamedly vast, daunting and challenging. Studying history means learning how to learn about the past, it means engaging with its wonders and horrors, and it means joining in its telling and retelling.

To be eligible for admission to your chosen honours course at UWA you must successfully - complete a bachelors degree or equivalent from a recognised university.

Applicants wishing to commence an undergraduate degree at UWA must satisfy the Universitys academic and English language competence ELC requirements to be eligible for a place within the course.
Overseas secondary studies taught and examined in English Secondary teaching and examination in English is acceptable if deemed equivalent to Australian matriculation Year 12 with a pass in the final year English paper completed within two years of application.
IELTS Academic - Minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 must include Academic Reading and Writing modules for all courses.
TOEFL - Internet-based Test iBT An overall score of 82 with a minimum score of 22 in the Writing section 18 in the Reading section 20 in the Speaking section and 20 in the Listening section for all courses.
TOEFL - Essay Rating Test of Written English TWE of 45 and either 230 Computer-based or 570 Paper-based score.
