Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is a rigorous, research-oriented program requiring the completion of a thesis. Taking specialization to the next level, this program builds on students' analytical skills and leads to careers in academics or corporate research. The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering is part of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering. A completed undergraduate degree in chemical or materials engineering from a recognized institution
Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0 in the last two years of study, or an equivalent qualification

Three references. In the online application, you will be asked to enter the email addresses of three references, who will then receive an email requesting they complete an online form OR upload their own letter of reference. Applicants may not have more than ONE industry or work reference.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 92 iBT with 21 in each section. International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) with an overall band score of 7.0 and 6.0 on each band.
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) with a minimum overall score of 70, and 60 on each sub-test
