Master of the Environment - Urban Resilience and Sustainability

Urban resilience and sustainability (URS) is a new kind of professional practice that incorporates the principles of sustainable development. It emerged as a distinct field about 15 years ago, circa 2007, with the establishment of positions such as the chief sustainability officer in the private sector and the urban sustainability director in the public sector. URS professionals are primarily manager-leaders who possess expertise across various disciplines, including planning, law, policy, engineering, and management.
The Master of the Environment (MENV) Graduate Program at the University of Colorado Boulder is an innovative, interdisciplinary professional master's degree that equips students with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to address the complex environmental challenges of the 21st Century. This 21-month, immersive, cohort-based graduate program develops students into leaders in a wide range of careers in conservation, consulting, energy, natural resources, planning, policy, sustainability and more.

To be considered for the MENV program, students must have a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution or the international equivalent. We recommend a minimum of one year of professional experience or applicable training prior to applying. Submit recommendations directly online through the application system. Make sure to give your recommenders enough time to write and submit their letters before the application deadlines listed above, incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The MENV program does not consider the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) as part of its review process. IELTS: 6.0, TOEFL ibt: 75, TOEFL pbt: 537.

University Requirement: Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree. Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field. Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average.
