Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction - Art Education

The Masters Program in Curriculum & Instruction - Art Education produces graduates who excel at art instruction as well as understand the criticism, technology and curriculum that shape the field. However, many students serve in the wider community, in museums or other community arts organizations. Students in this program will develop their ability to make professional contributions as leaders and educators in art education. Coursework includes the following areas:

Philosophy, history, aesthetics, criticism, and technology in relation to art education
Visual culture and critical studies in humanities education
Museum studies
Curriculum theory, development, assessment and evaluation
Policy analysis
Effective approaches for art classroom management

Official transcripts from all previous college/university work sent to the UH Graduate School.
The College of Education requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.6 for undergraduate coursework or over the last 60 credit hours of coursework.

The minimum TOEFL score required is 79 for the internet-based test.
The minimum TOEFL score for the paper-based (pBT) exam is 550 or higher.
The minimum TOEFL score for the new revised paper-based exam is: Reading 20, Listening 20, and Writing 20.
The minimum IELTS score required is an overall score of a 6.5.
