Master of Science in Nursing - Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

The Master of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers nurses a program that prepares them for advanced practice roles in today's complex health care systems. The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) option prepares students to provide care for patients age 13 to the end of life. The program requires course content in research, professional and clinical cores, and the advanced practice area with a selected focus. Graduates will be skilled in implementing and evaluating interventions across adult health care settings as well as throughout the trajectories of illness. Nurses are educated for practice that is evidence-based, collaborative, and reflective of an understanding of current health care delivery, as well as, economic, ethical, and professional issues.

Admission to the MSN program is necessarily a selective process. Meeting the posted criteria does not ensure admission. The Admissions Committee considers a myriad of factors including the quality of performance in previous undergraduate and graduate study (as applicable), success in previous employment and related experiences, and personal qualifications including suitability for advanced study.

The School of Nursing MSN program requires a higher level of English proficiency than The Graduate School due to the clinical requirements.
International applicants must achieve a minimum total score of 575 (with a minimum of 50 in each section) on the written version of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or minimum of 90 on the internet-based test with the following minimum section requirements: Reading, 21, Listening, 22, Speaking, 25, Writing, 22.
an average grade of B (cumulative GPA 3.0) or better

A score of 8 is required on IELTS which is higher than The Graduate School requirement.
