Doctor of Philosophy in Peace Studies and Political Science

The Peace Studies and Political Science program provides students with the theoretical and methodological tools of political science to answer these and related questions. Students research a variety of topics, including the causes of violent conflict, the role of international actors, law and peace accords in ending civil and international wars, the possibilities of justice and reconciliation after mass violence, the relation between politics, religion and peace, and the role of structural factors such as climate change in peace and conflict.

A bachelor's degree or its equivalent, as well as an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.

Transcripts - An unofficial transcript for each post-secondary institution must be uploaded and submitted through the Online Application Form. Any transcripts received either by mail or electronically will be discarded. An official transcript will be required only if the student accepts an offer of admission to Notre Dame.

IELTS - 7.0, TOEFL IBT - 80, with a minimum of 23 on the Speaking section. Duolingo English Test, the minimum score is 120.
