Certificate in Quantum Information Science and Technology (Chattanooga Campus)

This Quantum Physics concentration is aimed at training physics majors in the art of quantum information science and technology (QIST). A particular focus will be placed on quantum computation, both its hardware and software. At the end of this training, the student should understand the basic differences between quantum and classical information science and computation, have an understanding of the special rules that govern quantum information science. Finally, the student should be able to write in a quantum programming language to implement some prominent quantum algorithms.

The purpose of this concentration is to make the subject of QIST accessible to students with solid physics and math background. The courses designed specifically for this concentration will showcase methodologies that QIST can or will be applied to affect a wide range of areas ranging from computation and secured communication to biomedical sensing and even finance.
