The awards are for:

• new undergraduate full-time students enrolling on the first year of one of the above listed programmes for the first time
• undergraduate students who have completed a Foundation Year at Birkbeck and will be enrolling on the first year of one of the above listed programmes for the first time.

Applicants must also meet the following criteria:

• qualify for Home fee status
• not already hold a degree or an equivalent level qualification
• be from a Black background.

Eligible groups include the following:

• Black - African
• Black - Caribbean
• Black - Other
• Mixed - White/Black Caribbean
• Mixed - White/Black African
• Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)

Value of award

These cash bursaries will offer financial support towards living costs for new undergraduate students with a Home fee status.

Successful candidates will be awarded a £5,000 cash bursary in each year of one of the three-year undergraduate programmes.
