John and Janice King Bursary

The Selection Committee will, in the exercise of their absolute discretion, afford consideration to the following criteria:

Academic merit or potential (30%)

Commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of people in the tropics (50%) and

Impact the award will have on ability to study at JCU (20%).

A written response of up to 2 pages that describes:

• Background.
• Reason for studying selected degree.
• Commitment to health and medicine in PNG.
• Commitment to returning to PNG.
• Impact the scholarship will have for you

If all the below statements describe you and your current situation, you can apply for this scholarship:

• I am a Papua New Guinean citizen and hold a student visa and
• I am or will be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate course (including research) in the year of awarding and
• My course is offered by JCU's College of Medicine and Dentistry, College of Healthcare Sciences or College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences.

What would I receive?

If you are a successful applicant of this scholarship, you will receive AUD $6,000 paid in two equal instalments after census date of SP1 and SP2 for the duration of your degree provided you meet the on-going eligibility criteria. Please allow up to 6 weeks after census date for payment.
