Career development is the process through which a student gains the self-awareness, experience and skills that will help make a successful transition from school to work. In order to do this, a student must actively seek advice, resources and experience outside of the classrooms. This could mean connecting with industry professionals, meeting with a career advisor, and/or gaining meaningful work/volunteer experience. As a labour market becomes increasingly competitive, it is important that we encourage and acknowledge the students who invest their time and energy into the career development process. Through this award, we can help provide a financial incentive and pragmatic support for students to pursue the former experience.
Criteria
To be considered for this award, students must:
• Demonstrate a commitment to career development such as:
- Be involved in extracurricular activities
- Meaningful employment/volunteer experience
- Job shadowing
- Information interview etc.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Disbursement Criteria
For funds to be disbursed, successful applicants must be enrolled in a full-time course load and be in good academic standing.
Students apply for this award through their myStudentSystem. A link to the application will appear on your To Do List only when the application period is open. Please note that not all scholarships, awards, and bursaries will be available in any given application period.
