Selection criteria:
The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen by the Dean, the associate dean of the degree program, three faculty members from the Arts disciplines and a representative from the office responsible for student awards.
Successful applicants will be notified via e-mail. Committee selections are final, appeals will not be considered.
Typically given out in the Winter term.
Criteria
To be eligible, the student must:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student with a declared major in the Bachelor of Arts degree program at MacEwan's Faculty of Arts and Science
- Have completed at least 24 MacEwan credits applicable to the Bachelor of Arts degree
- Be currently enrolled in a minimum of 80% of the full course load (24 credits over the Fall/Winter terms) as of the selection date
- Have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on the credits applicable to the degree and
- Have written, in the the judgment of the adjudication committee, the best essay on the subject of the worth of a Bachelor of Arts degree to society and (using their own experience) to the individual.
- In case of a tie, the student with the highest number of applicable credits will receive the award.
Disbursement Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 80% of the full course load (24 credits over the Fall/Winter terms).
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
