CV (preferably Lattes CV).
A copy of the candidate's original transcripts. If the candidate's overall grade is not shown, a document showing their overall grade must also be presented.
Letter of interest in English (1,000–1,500 words). The candidate must explain why they chose the course, their academic interests, and how their research project or the ongoing study programme will benefit.
Abstract of the proposal in English (up to 500 words). The candidate must briefly explain the preliminary project they intend to conduct at Trinity College Dublin.
Personal statement in English (up to 500 words). The candidate must demonstrate convincingly their commitment to the programme and explain, as specifically and tangibly as possible, how they intend to contribute to the Haddad Fellowship programme by describing potential activities that could be undertaken to forward the scholarship programme, collaborate with translations, publications, and other relevant activities.
Candidates to the M.Phil. courses (including Creative Writing): a recent academic paper written in English (up to 3,000 words). The academic paper must have been written by the candidate, and it will be used to assess the candidate's command of the English language and academic skills. You may write a fresh paper or present a paper written originally for another course. The academic paper must not be translated by anyone other than the candidate.
Candidates to the M.F.A. courses: portfolio of work showing your experience in the relevant area. The preferred format is PDF, but if your portfolio is only hosted online, please include the URL on your letter of interest.
A copy of the student's passport, which must be valid at least until at least the end of the postgraduate programme at Trinity.
At the time of registration, the student must have completed their undergraduate degree.
Ph.D. students or holders of a Ph.D. degree are not eligible for this scholarship programme.
Candidates who are regularly enrolled in a postgraduate course or possessing a postgraduate degree (except Ph.D.) are eligible for this scholarship programme.
Brazilian nationals who hold dual European citizenship are not eligible for this scholarship programme, encouraging graduates to return to Brazil after course completion.
Candidates must be residing in Brazil at the time of registration, ensuring a Non-EU fee status.
Candidates must demonstrate an overall grade of at least 7.1 during their B.A. degree. In the case of professional-oriented programmes (M.F.A. courses), candidates should also demonstrate tangible work done in the relevant area.
The student must not be taking part in an exchange programme.
Students are welcome to apply before they have received an offer of admission. However, only candidates who receive an offer of admission by 3rd June will be considered further.
Eligible courses (1 year full-time):
Playwriting (M.F.A.)
Stage Design (M.F.A.)
Theatre Directing (M.F.A.)
Theatre and Performance (M.Phil.)
Comparative Literature (M.Phil.)
Creative Writing (M.Phil.)
When you apply for the HADDAD Fellowship, you must also apply for the desired course through the Trinity portal. Applying for the scholarship programme and applying for the course are two roughly simultaneous but fundamentally distinct processes, with distinct deadlines and which require different documents as well. If you register only for the scholarship programme, you are not automatically applying to the university. You will find further information about the course application on the relevant Trinity page.
When registration for the HADDAD Fellowship closes, all applications will undergo pre-selection by the Haddad Fellowship. Pre-selected candidates will be invited for interview. On 3rd June of the proposed year of entry, the Haddad Fellowship will consult Trinity College Dublin to check the admission status of each candidate. Suitable candidates for the scholarship who do not have an offer of admission from Trinity will not be considered. Trinity's decision-making process varies across Schools, and it may take months until you hear from the admissions committee, so it is important that you take this into consideration.
Candidates applying for any of the three M.F.A. courses and the M.Phil. in Creative Writing must complete their course application no later than 28th February. The later you apply, the slimmer your chances are of receiving an answer until 3rd June. The deadline for scholarship application remains 15th April for all candidates.
