When making your application please ensure that you include the following information:
Completed Commonwealth Scholarship expression of interest form – this will be emailed to you automatically when you state you wish to be considered for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship
Evidence of any work experience stated on the application form (if applicable).
Copies of your passport and ALL current and previous UK Visas (if applicable).
At least a 500-word statement that includes why you think you are eligible for this scholarship and what the benefits will be to you and your home country.
A reference (signed by the referee and provided on letterhead paper).
Copies of all transcripts/certificates – evidence of qualifications obtained.
Copies of any English language qualifications gained (e.g. IELTS, WAEC, NECO, KCSE, Indian Standard 12th)
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must:
Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country.
Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2025.
By September 2025, hold a first degree at of at least upper second-class level (2:1) standard
OR
By September 2025, hold a first degree at either lower-second class (2:2) standard plus a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master's degree).
Meet the University's English Language entry criteria for postgraduate study
Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format.
By September 2025, hold a first degree at either lower-second class (2:2) standard plus a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master's degree).
The scholarship can only be used to join one of the following programmes:
MA Social Justice and Globalisation in Education
MSc Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine
MSc Family and Child Psychology
MSc Biotechnology
MSc Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation
Submit a University of Chester International application with all supporting documents and a Commonwealth Expression of Interest. When making your University of Chester application, please ensure you indicate you are applying for the Commonwealth Scholarship.
Submit an online Commonwealth Scholarship Commission application via the Electronic Application System (EAS). You will need to enter your University of Chester application number on the EAS form. You will be automatically issued with this number once you have completed and submitted the University of Chester International Application form.
