Commonwealth Scholarships

When making your application please ensure that you include the following information:

• Completed Commonwealth Scholarship expression of interest form – this will be emailed to you automatically when you state you wish to be considered for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship
• Evidence of any work experience stated on the application form (if applicable).
• Copies of your passport and ALL current and previous UK Visas (if applicable).
• At least a 500-word statement that includes why you think you are eligible for this scholarship and what the benefits will be to you and your home country.
• A reference (signed by the referee and provided on letterhead paper).
• Copies of all transcripts/certificates – evidence of qualifications obtained.
• Copies of any English language qualifications gained (e.g. IELTS, WAEC, NECO, KCSE, Indian Standard 12th)

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must:

• Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country.
• Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
• Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2025.
• By September 2025, hold a first degree at of at least upper second-class level (2:1) standard

OR

• By September 2025, hold a first degree at either lower-second class (2:2) standard plus a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master's degree).
• Meet the University's English Language entry criteria for postgraduate study
• Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
• Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
• Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format.
• By September 2025, hold a first degree at either lower-second class (2:2) standard plus a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master's degree).

The scholarship can only be used to join one of the following programmes:

• MA Social Justice and Globalisation in Education
• MSc Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine
• MSc Family and Child Psychology
• MSc Biotechnology
• MSc Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation
