Muriel Smith Award

The award will be made on the basis of academic merit and the benefits to the student and judged by the Head of the Department of European Languages and Cultures.

The successful candidate will be notified of the award in June 2024.

The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh is delighted to invite applications for a postgraduate scholarship to be awarded in 2025-2026.

This award if offered to new applicants who have applied for admission to a postgraduate taught Masters or Masters by Research degree programme of study in the relevant field of study at the University commencing in September 2025.

Applicants must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

Both taught Masters and Masters by Research programmes are eligible for this award. Applications will be considered from UK/Overseas applicants wishing to study full-time/part-time programmes.

This award will be awarded to an eligible masters student on one of the following three programmes:-

MSc by Research in French
MSc by Research in Spanish (Hispanic Studies)
MSc in Translation Studies - specialising in French or Spanish
