Why is GMAT Important for Studying an MBA?

If you’re planning to pursue an MBA, whether in Thailand or abroad, the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is often a crucial first step. This exam not only evaluates your readiness for graduate-level business studies but also boosts your chances of being accepted into top universities while equipping you with skills essential for future career success.

What is GMAT?

The GMAT is a standardized test designed to assess the abilities of candidates applying to graduate business programs. Most universities worldwide use GMAT scores as part of their admissions criteria for MBA and other business-related programs.

Why is GMAT Important?

  1. A Requirement for Top Business Schools:
Many prestigious institutions require GMAT scores as part of the application process for their business programs.

  2. Demonstrates Diverse Skills:
The GMAT provides separate scores for different sections, allowing candidates to showcase their abilities in areas like problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning.

  3. Focus on Reasoning Skills:
High scores in the reasoning section are often linked to better job opportunities and higher salaries compared to other candidates.

GMAT Structure

The GMAT consists of 4 sections and takes a total of 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete:

  1. Verbal Section:

    • Time: 75 minutes

    • Number of Questions: 41

    • Question Types: Reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction

  2. Quantitative Section:

    • Time: 75 minutes

    • Number of Questions: 37

    • Question Types: Data sufficiency and problem-solving

  3. Analytical Writing:

    • Time: 30 minutes

    • Task: Write one essay analyzing an argument

  4. Integrated Reasoning:

    • Time: 30 minutes

    • Number of Questions: 12

    • Question Types: Data analysis from charts, tables, and graphs

Customizing the Exam Order

You can choose the order in which you take the sections based on your strengths:

  1. Analytical Writing → Integrated Reasoning → Quantitative → Verbal

  2. Verbal → Quantitative → Integrated Reasoning → Analytical Writing

  3. Quantitative → Verbal → Integrated Reasoning → Analytical Writing

Why GMAT is a Game-Changer

Preparing for the GMAT is not just about getting into a top business school. It also sets you apart in the job market. Employers often value GMAT scores as they reflect analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills—key qualities in management roles.
