The Master's program in English is a 12-month course.
There are two enrollment rounds each year: January and September.

The September intake is the main semester, with most universities and programs beginning then.
In contrast, the January intake is a minor term, with only a few universities and selected programs available.

When should I apply

Paragraph Image

Applications typically open about one year before the course begins. The admissions process follows a rolling application system, meaning applications are accepted continuously until all spots are filled.

Some programs may close applications approximately six months before the course starts. For example, if the program begins in September, applications may close as early as March. Therefore, it is recommended to prepare and apply early.

Please note that required documents may vary by university. You can check with an IDP counselor for specific details.

Universities in the UK have different admission requirements, and many offer Pre-Master's or Graduate Diploma programs as a foundation before starting a master's degree.

These programs provide students with more university options, increasing their chances of admission. So, regardless of your GPA, there are always opportunities available for everyone!

What is Pre-sessional

Paragraph Image

Most universities offer a Pre-sessional English course as a language preparation program before starting a master's degree. The duration of the course depends on the student's IELTS score, determining how many weeks they need to study.

In this course, students will develop essential academic English skills required for postgraduate study, including referencing, academic writing, and presentation skills.

During the Pre-sessional course, students can work up to 10 hours per week. Once they successfully complete the program and meet the required standards, they can proceed to their master’s degree without retaking the IELTS exam.

Type of IELTS tests

IELTS Academic can be used only if your score meets the university's required threshold.

So, if you're unsure or planning to take the test, it's best to choose IELTS Academic for UKVI. This version is accepted whether you need to take a Pre-sessional English course or apply to universities in other countries.

Did you know? The IELTS Academic and IELTS Academic for UKVI tests are identical in format and difficulty level. The only difference is that IELTS Academic for UKVI follows stricter invigilation procedures.
