What is Clearing?

Clearing matches applicants to university places that are yet to be filled. It’s available to anyone who has made a UCAS Undergraduate application or is not satisfied with the UCAS result. Here is the last call to all IB or A-Level student to secure your place at the best-fit UK university.

When does it Starts:

Running from 5 July to mid - August

You’ll be eligible for Clearing if:

you apply after 30 June
you are not holding any offers from universities or colleges you’ve applied to
your place is not confirmed after exam results are published

How do you use Clearing?

Well, the first place to start is to search for vacancies in our search tool.

After you’ve found the course you’re interested in, give the university a call to make sure you meet the entry requirements and they still have vacancies. If they offer you a place and you want to accept it, add the Clearing choice and apply in UCAS. *IDP will waive the UCAS Clearing cost and provide visa & accommodation services to our partner universities only.

Please prepare the following documents:

Academic transcripts & award certificates from your high school and your ‘A’ Level or IB result
Copy of Passport of Information including the signature page’’

Only Submit if applicable:

English Language test certificate
Personal Statement with no longer than 4,000 letters/47 lines
Portfolio for Art/Design/Architecture Student, only
1 Academic References

Important Note:

*You can apply for one choice at a time through Clearing. Once a choice has been selected, you cannot add another, unless you’ve been unsuccessful with the first one.
*If you want to apply elsewhere once you’ve added a choice, then you need to ask that university to cancel your place so you’re able to apply again through Clearing.
*If you have a firm choice, can you apply for clearing? No. You must release all your offer and then apply for clearing.
