  1. Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 covers Years 7 to 9, equivalent to Grades 6 to 8 in Thailand. It is the first three years for students transitioning from Primary School. Some schools categorize this stage under Junior School (Preparatory School), while others include it in Senior School. During this stage, students focus on three core subjects: Maths, Science, and English, along with other supplementary subjects. Many Thai students start studying in the UK at Year 9, while some families choose to send their children earlier in Years 7 or 8. This allows students time to adjust to academics, language, and culture.

  2. GCSE
The GCSE program spans two years: Years 10 and 11, equivalent to Grades 9 and 10 in Thailand. Students typically study around 9-10 subjects and take the GCSE Exam in Year 11, which influences their subject choices for A-levels. For Thai students transitioning to the UK after Grade 9, some schools offer a 1-Year GCSE course or Pre A-level/Pre IB intensive programs in Year 11 to help them prepare.

  3. A-level/IB Diploma
Sixth Form programs run for two years: Years 12 and 13, equivalent to Grades 11 and 12 in Thailand. These programs are divided into A-level, IB, and BTEC. In the UK, most students follow the A-level pathway, studying 3-4 subjects based on their intended university major. Sixth Form is another popular entry point for Thai students to study in the UK. Some students opt to attend Sixth Form colleges, which often offer more flexible schedules and lifestyles compared to traditional boarding schools. Examples include Cardiff Sixth Form College, D’Overbroeck’s, and MPW, which are typically located in cities.
