Master of Arts in English - TEFL/TESL

There are two options for pursuing graduate study in Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language (TEFL/TESL) in the Department of English. One option is the M.A. in English with a graduate curriculum exclusively focused on TEFL/TESL. A second option is a 15.0 credits graduate certificate in TESOL Education.
The TEFL/TESL Master's Program is a WICHE Western Regional Graduate Program. Residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible for in-state tuition.
TESOL Certificate students are not eligible for the WICHE Program.

A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale. If your average is below 3.00, you will be considered for conditional admission if sufficient evidence indicates that you can perform well in a graduate program.

Your writing sample should be about 7-10 pages long, citations added as needed, 12-pt. font
(Times Roman or Arial), double-spaced, pages numbered, your name and title of paper on the
first page, above the start of your text. It is recommended that the topic is either pertinent or
relevant to teaching English as a foreign/second language, indicating familiarity with the aims
and conventions of applied linguistics and/or the field of TESOL, or you may submit an academic paper or essay that demonstrates your ability to use voice, language, clarity, and organization
of thoughts to forward the topic.
Minimum TOEFL score for admission without condition is 550 (paper based), or 80 (internet based).
Minimum IELTS score for admission without condition is 6.5.
