It can be hard to choose just one major in college. As a biology major pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, youll appreciate the flexibility in your schedule that allows you to coordinate a double major or a minor in another field such as anthropology, business administration, computer science, criminology (for forensic science), English (for technical writing), geoscience, or a foreign language.
At IUP, youll be exposed to many aspects of biology as you learn in the classroom and outside it. IUP's biology professors are highly committed to getting students involved in field experiences and hands-on projects.
Among the courses youll take are Principles of Biology, Botany, General Zoology, Microbiology, Genetics, and Physics. Youll also choose other biology courses, such as Field Botany, Ornithology, Field Zoology, Ecology, Immunology, Limnology, Animal Behavior, Plant Physiology, and Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy. In addition, youll select classes from related disciplines, such as chemistry, math, and geoscience. You may also choose to add an internship.
IUP's Biology Department offers the best of both academic worlds. You can have the opportunities found at larger research institutions while also enjoying the more personal learning community found at smaller colleges.
