Master of Engineering in Computer Science

Students in the graduate program of Computer Science conduct cutting-edge research in a variety of fields including database and information systems, Internet search, graphics, user interfaces, Web-based systems, multimedia and image processing, bioinformatics, intelligent systems, computer architecture, robotics, secure systems, networks, embedded systems, and mobile computing. Beyond these areas, faculty and graduate students explore interdisciplinary aspects of computer science research through interactions with colleagues in other departments at Lehigh, at other universities, and at corporate research labs. Within Lehigh, collaborations are underway with researchers from all four colleges in areas such as biological sciences, design arts, sociology, management, marketing, economics, and education, as well as the departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.

Minimum Test Requirements

Due to the global pandemic, the GRE is no longer a requirement in applications for the Fall 2021 Academic Year. GRE scores will not be incorporated into the review process.
Data Sheet: asks for personal data, proposed program info., test data, educational background, and work experience.

Transcripts: Must be uploaded to application. If admitted, official transcripts are required and must be received in sealed envelopes.

Letters of Recommendation: 2 letters of recommendation are required. If you are currently or were recently in school, letters from academic advisors and other professors are preferred. If you are currently in industry, letters from employers are acceptable. All letters should be submitted through the online application process.

Test scores: Either the Internet-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Test System) is required for all graduate students whose FIRST language is not English. All international students must show proof of English proficiency to be admitted to Lehigh. Official TOEFL test scores sent from ETS to Lehigh, or official IELTS scores sent from a testing center to Lehigh, are required. TOEFL and IELTS scores expire after 2 years and expired scores WILL NOT be accepted.

Essay/Statement of Purpose: a brief statement of career and research objectives. Essays should articulate clearly your experience and goals. Half a page to two pages is sufficient.

Supplemental Information: applicants should also include a resume or CV, current research or creative work, list of published works, and extracurricular activities.
