Please note that the Mathematics content area has a 2.5 minimum GPA requirement, whereas all other content areas have a 3.0 minimum GPA requirement.
Statement of Purpose Details
Your statement should be 2-3 pages (double spaced) and describe your academic and professional experience, plans and goals for this program and upon completion of graduate coursework, and your perspective on social justice as it applies to being a high school teacher. Please clearly indicate your content area of choice (Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Physics, or Social Studies). You should also include why you are a good fit for Loyola University Chicago's Teaching, Learning, and Leading with Schools and Communities program.
Applicants must submit official transcripts for all undergraduate and any graduate work. To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree in progress. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable, faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts, we have them on record. Copies of transcripts or transcripts not received in a sealed envelope from the university are considered unofficial. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts. We strongly encourage electronic submission of documents. Official transcripts should show a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In exceptional cases, applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted.
