Master of Health Service Management

Massey’s Master of Veterinary Studies (MVS) is an internationally recognised degree, most suitable for those who would like to undertake a combination of taught courses and a research project. The qualification can be built around your area of interest. For example, you could choose to specialise in epidemiology or public health, or you can develop your expertise across other areas of veterinary science by choosing a MVS without a specialisation. There are a wide range of taught courses for you to choose from, depending on your area of interest and the specialisation that you choose. Massey University hosts the only veterinary school in New Zealand. Its well-equipped facilities include the Wildbase wildlife hospital, an equine hospital, 24-hour pet hospital and sheep, beef, dairy and deer farms, all located near campus.

Our courses are led by internationally recognised lecturers and have a reputation for their use of real-life case studies and high staff to student ratios. Our staff cover a wide range of veterinary disciplines and collaborate on research projects with other related disciplines including animal production, physiology and nutrition.

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.

Specific requirements

To enter the Master of Health Service Management, you will have been awarded or qualified for:

a relevant bachelor's degree, having achieved a grade average of at least a B- in the highest level courses, or equivalent, or

a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management with a B- grade average, or equivalent.

If you have a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

Meeting requirements for industry membership

If you wish to meet the requirements for accreditation by the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) you must complete all of the following courses in Part One of the programme:

Health Systems Management

Health Information Management

Health Economics

Health Law and Policy

International English Language Requirements:

• IELTS - 6.5 overall and minimum 6.0 in each band
• TOEFL iBT – Overall score 90, minimum 20 in Writing
• Cambridge English - C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill.
• NCEL - Level 5
• PTE - 58 overall and minimum 50 in each communicative skills
• LanguageCert - C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill or C2 Mastery IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
