Computer Science prepares you to design and implement software and systems for every domain of our daily lives, such as finance, pharmaceutical, technology and management fields. Computer scientists think logically to build and implement computer algorithms, work with operating systems, databases, firewalls and web servers and write programs for computer gaming, mobile computing, and wireless systems.

Applied Physics is the study of the basic laws of nature and their application to modern technologies. Applied Physics provides both broad and focused study in physics while relating this study to applications used in technology-based industries, such as optical science, microelectronics, computer-based laboratory instrumentation and astronomy/astrophysics. Applied Physics majors hone practical skills and theoretical knowledge throughout many fields of physics for successful careers in industry, academia or national labs. Applied Physics majors may also pursue and gain expertise in one of many subfields of physics, mastering the techniques and skills required to independently initiate research as well as collaborate on research to contribute to cutting-edge investigations in areas such as atomic, molecular and optical physics, surface science, astrophysics and laser spectroscopy.

All first-year students who apply to NJIT must submit an official high school transcript in English. When evaluating your application for undergraduate admission, we are interested in understanding how you challenged yourself relative to the curriculum that was available at your school and the trends in your performanceespecially your grades in math, science and English.
Your completed coursework should include English Composition, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Chemistry and Physics. We also consider the GPA (Grade Point Average) that is indicated on your high school transcript. We generally look for students in the top 25% of their class. For schools that don't use a ranking system, we consider a 3.0 GPA or higher to be the equivalent.
