Master of Science in Sports Journalism

From interviewing NFL players after a big game to covering the Olympics, sports journalism requires a blend of technical and storytelling skills and the drive to inform and entertain a passionate audience. Developed in part by sports TV executives, our curriculum prepares you for a successful career in multimedia sports production and broadcasting.

Well give you the journalistic foundation to cover not only what's happening on the field, but to dig deeper to uncover the financial, health and ethical issues facing the world of sports today. In our Ed McMahon Communications Center, youll build websites, write scripts and shoot, and edit and produce video using the latest equipment in our high-definition studio and the HD and Ultra HD (4K) editing suites. Youll learn from current and former professionals and join an alumni network that spans the nation. Quinnipiac was rated a Top 10 school for media professionals by LinkedIn, in large part to the success of our alumni in the industry, many of whom are employed at ESPN, NBC Sports, Northeast Sports Network, SportsNet New York and professional teams and leagues throughout the country.

The School of Communications invites applications from prospective students who wish to pursue the professional practice of sports journalism. Recent graduates of a bachelor's degree program outside of the communications or journalism fields are welcome to apply, as are prospective students who are presently working and wish to either shift careers or enhance their professional standing.

To be considered for admission to the MS in Sports Journalism program, you must first possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
