Anthropology is the study of human beings and the social and cultural worlds they inhabit. Whether conducting their research in cities or villages, laboratories or rain forests, refugee camps or colonial archives, anthropologists are attentive to the ideas, affects, practices, values, and institutions they encounter. As an anthropology student at Eugene Lang College, you'll explore a wide range of topics such as race and classification, money and value, human rights, migration, war, and violence, drug cultures, kinship, sex, and gender, and art, design, and urban life. This liberal arts degree combines multifaceted, interdisciplinary approaches to the study of anthropology with in-depth explorations of key contemporary issues. Complete the Required Essays Essay 1 In your study or work at The New School, what social issue or construct would you make the focus of your efforts to effect change? In your essay, please pay particular attention to the college and program to which you have applied. (200-400 words) Letters of Recommendation Applicants applying directly from high school must submit one counselor recommendation and one recommendation from a teacher. The Common Application School Report is also required. Submit Official Transcripts All applicants must provide official high school and/or college transcripts from all institutions attended. Undergraduate applicants who have attended multiple high schools can submit only the graduating school's official transcript as long as all prior coursework is listed on that transcript. International Baccalaureate (IB): Students can pursue either the IB Diploma Program (DP) or IB Career-related Program (CP). Applicants who are taking individual IB courses as a supplement to a national curriculum are permitted to pursue individual IB courses rather than the DP or CP.
