Master of Science in Media Management

Keeping your knowledge and skills up-to-date as markets change and technologies advance is critical to your professional success. The Media Management curriculum prepares you with the skills and strategies needed for the rapidly evolving media industry. You may plan in-depth study in one or more of the subject areas listed below, sample a variety of subjects and approaches, or both.
Media Management graduates pursue their passions in many areas, including production, marketing, and business management for television, film, radio, and digital media, branding, marketing, and advertising, and media administration for commercial and nonprofit organizations. Many students advance their careers even before they graduate, participating in internships at leading media companies and programs such as TIDAL, NBC News, CNN, BET, Sony Music Entertainment, and The Late Show on CBS.

The Master of Science in Media Management or Advanced Certificate in Media Management programs combines media-oriented business education with research and critical analysis of media practices. We welcome applications from motivated individuals whose previous education and other accomplishments show potential for leadership and creative problem solving. Applicants with business or production experience in a related field are preferred, but all applicants with strong academic records will be considered. GRE or GMAT test scores are not required.

It should also explain how the MA program (with its mix of theory and production) or the MS or advanced certificate program (with its combination of media-oriented business education and research and critical analysis of media practices, its faculty and courses, its position within The New School and in New York, and its resources) will help you realize your goals. Submit Your R'sum or CV
Submit a one to two-page r'sum/curriculum vitae summarizing your academic qualifications, relevant work experience, published writing, volunteer/community work, professional networking, public speaking, and/or any other relevant experiences that may relate to your field of study, including dates and positions held. Please also note any special language or computer skills that you have.
Submit Two Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic references are required. Recommendations must be submitted by recommenders directly via the online application portal. Instructions are included in the online application.
Submit College Transcripts
Applicants must upload an unofficial transcript, mark sheet, or academic record for each institution (even if you didnt receive a degree) in the Academic History section of the online application.

All uploaded transcripts must be accompanied by a key, a legend, or the back copy of the transcript. Non-English transcripts must be accompanied by an English translation. Records from non-U.S. institutions must have grades or marks and contain a copy of diploma if the degree has been conferred. Make sure your name appears on the transcript/record. Scanned documents must be clear and legible.
