Bachelor of Arts - Australian Studies

One of our longest-standing degrees, the Bachelor of Arts (BA) is still relevant in today’s world. It equips you with the creative, critical and analytical skills in demand by employers, and is transferable across a range of workplaces. When you study a BA at UNE, you have the freedom to become a specialist in the discipline of your choice.
However you decide to structure your degree, you’ll gain a range of skills that will power your agility and adaptability, both in the workplace and in life generally. Critical thinking, research capability, ethical practice, creativity and innovation, autonomy and initiative, effective communication (presentation, management and planning skills), computer literacy, and cultural awareness; these are all outcomes of studying our Bachelor of Arts — and highly valued in the workplace. With more than 30 majors to choose from, you can narrow your focus to pursue a passion or widen your net to broaden your prospects – anything is possible when you choose to study a BA with us.

Entry is based on Australian Year 12 equivalence or overseas equivalent, a UNE Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Arts, or an Advanced Diploma in Stage and Screen Acting or Performing Arts. English language requirements must also be met.

This course is offered under four admission rules.

Rule A: You have completed, at minimum, an Australian Year 12 qualification or overseas equivalent.

If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule A. Please see the Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule B: You have completed the UNE Diploma in Arts.

If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule B. Please see the Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule C: You have completed the UNE Advanced Diploma in Arts.

If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule C. Please see the Course Structure (Program of Study).

Rule D: You have completed ONE of the following qualifications:

Advanced Diploma in Stage and Screen Acting (AQF Level 6) from the Academy of Film, Theatre and Television

Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting) (AQF Level 6) from the Actors Centre Australia.

If you are admitted on this basis, you will be eligible for admission under Rule D.

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 award with an ATAR acceptable to UNE in the year of admission (minimum scores for entry into each UNE course are available directly from UNE International), or

Successful completion of a recognised Foundation Studies program conducted by an Australian University or affiliate with a minimum score of 60% in all units including English.
