Doctor of Philosophy in Learning, Leadership and Education Policy - Sport Management

The Sport Management Program is designed to provide an educational experience that includes an effective blend of classroom, research and field experiences in an effort to provide each student the opportunity to gain disciplinary knowledge and to develop the necessary skills to be successful in any area of the sport industry. Our mission is to graduate scholar-practitioners, and researchers, who have the knowledge, skills, and values to lead the sport industry in the 21st century and who envision sport as a vehicle for positive social outcomes.

Submit a 2-3 page (double-spaced, 12-point font) written personal statement. In your statement address your:
Reasons for pursuing the degree
Background, experiences, and/or qualifications for the program and concentration to which you are applying
Research interests
Professional goals, and how the LLEP Ph.D. degree relates to those goals
Submit a professional or academic writing sample (no more than 10 pages). If applicable, include a brief explanation of how this work relates to your research interests. The writing sample should demonstrate your scholarly thinking, academic or research writing skills, and ability to synthesize information. Examples of appropriate writing samples include, but are not limited to, undergraduate or graduate thesis, research paper, or literature review. If your original writing sample exceeds 10 pages, please submit an excerpt
Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae

Arrange for three recommendations to be submitted on your behalf. Recommendations should explicitly address your readiness to perform in a doctoral level program. Recommenders may address such attributes as your analytical thinking skills, writing skills, research or inquiry skills, creativity, initiative, collegiality, time management skills, etc.
The individuals providing letters of recommendation must electronically send their letters to the admissions office through the UConn Graduate School online application system. When you are completing the online application, be sure to mark ''Yes'' for the question on the Provider Input Form, and provide the names of individuals who will submit their letter electronically
Complete GRE exams and submit scores. The University of Connecticut GRE score reporting code is 3915

A cumulative GPA for their most recent degree of 3.0 or higher for the entire degree
Minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test – iBT/ iBT Home Edition), 550 (Old Paper-based test – PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (''New'' Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test. (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.)
Personal Statement
A minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic Test
A minimum overall score of 53 or higher on the PTE Test.
