Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Medical Sciences

The PhD program in Veterinary Medical Sciences produces new graduates who join the research workforce in academia, government or the private sector in the United States or Abroad. Our PhD students are from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.

The PhD program requires a minimum of 90 credits in coursework and research. The College of Veterinary Medicine collaborates with other colleges in both the Health Science Center and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences to provide students with excellent opportunities for trans-disciplinary research and mentoring.

A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.
All of the following requirements must be met in order to qualify for admission into the
PhD program in the CVM:
Availability of space, resources and faculty expertise
An earned Bachelor's degree or equivalent
An upper division undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or the equivalent
Three appropriate letters of recommendation
For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
