Master of Science in Medical Sciences - Biomedical Informatics

The University of Florida's Master of Science (M.S.) in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Biomedical Informatics (BMI) is a specialized degree designed to prepare students for academic or practical, hands-on careers in biomedical informatics. Our mission is to train a diverse workforce of professionals, researchers, and leaders through multidisciplinary training in computer science, health and medicine, biostatistics, data science and analytics, engineering, and research methodology.
Graduate students concentrating in Biomedical Informatics develop a theoretical and practical understanding of a wide range of informatics-related topics in biology, healthcare, and public health as well as their applications to improve health-related outcomes. The Biomedical Informatics graduate degree concentration is designed to be accessible to students with a background in computer science, public health, biological sciences, and data-centered sciences. The course of study is also useful for those interested in gaining skills in biomedical informatics to complement their existing career as a physician, nurse, other healthcare professional, IT professional, or clinical or non-clinical researcher.

M.S. Application Instructions
Applications must be submitted through the University of Florida Graduate School application system. Please do not submit any M.S. application materials directly to the department.

Submit three letters of recommendation using the UF Graduate School
Describe your career goals and how a M.S. in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Health Outcomes and Implementation Science or Biomedical Informatics is important to achieving those goals.

Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.
Arrange to have official test scores (MCAT, IELTS, MELAB, TOEFL) sent to the UF Office of Admissions following the instructions provided by the Office of Admissions.
For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
