Master of Science in Food and Animal Medicine

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine is offering a non-thesis masters degree in Food Animal Health and Management. The objectives of this program are to provide the candidates with skill sets critical to the food animal industry.

A broad understanding of the production livestock industry
Scientific methods necessary for the investigation of production concerns and disease outbreaks
Communication (ability to move the idea forward)
Data management and evaluation
Critical reasoning
Students will have the option of focusing on beef, dairy or swine.
Through a cooperative arrangement with a production company, government agency, pharmaceutical company or biologics company, degree candidates will plan, execute and summarize at least one epidemiologic study or trial. Clinical experience will teach students to prioritize, evaluate and resolve production issues. Development of leadership and programmatic planning skills are also expected.

Minimum TOEFL score requirement: overall score of 80 with a score of at least 20 on the speaking and with a score of at least 20 on the writing portions.
Minimum IELTS score requirement: overall band-width of 6.5, with no single band (score) below 6.0.

The three different letters usually come from former or current professors and professional supervisors.
A 1-2 page statement of purpose and a resume uploaded to the application system
Test scores: GRE (MS and PhD applicants only, not required for MFT applicants) and English language test scores (if required by the Graduate School).

The minimum undergraduate GPA standard for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Georgia for applicants who do not have a prior graduate degree is 3.0
