Bachelor of Arts in Dance

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in dance is for students who want to explore interdisciplinary and integrated approaches to art-making and/or simultaneously pursue a minor or major in another discipline. Whereas our BFA program requires a high level of hours spent in studio practice, the BA is more choice driven and broad in approach, so students can explore individualized directions. Students will study three core areas in dance: physical practice, creative process, and dance theory. Students will identify at least one other key area of interest'such as theatre, music, anthropology, business, art and design, environment, film, gender studies, or cultural studiesand will choose a major, a minor or focused electives in this area of study. Focused electives are a coherent group of classes in a specific subject proposed by the student and approved by a dance faculty advisor. Under the mentorship of a faculty member, students will create a BA capstone project in their senior year as a synthesis of the studies within dance and another area of study. Students will be auditioned and admitted into the BFA program. Those interested in the broader education provided by the BA will make a proposal to a faculty committee by their sophomore year that will include the student's individual plans for a dual major, minor, or focused electives. Faculty will mentor this process and ultimately approve/disapprove of their entrance into the BA program. You must provide official academic records for all years of school you reported in the application, including official copies of all school certificates and external exam results.You'll provide your high school courses/grades and test scores.
