Most of our graduate students come with bachelor's degrees in anthropology, biology, or a closely related field. Regardless of field, students must demonstrate a strong foundation in anthropology and the sciences.
Applicants are more strongly considered if they have taken previous coursework in the following subjects: biological anthropology, anatomy (human or vertebrate), statistics, physiology, and chemistry. In order to take certain graduate courses, students must have completed prior college-level coursework. For example, to take Gross Anatomy, at least one semester of human or vertebrate anatomy, including dissection, is required, and to take Genetics courses, at least one semester of chemistry is required.
Official results from the GRE are optional for students that possess a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher.
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grade scale.
A personal statement, communicating to us the following:

Any background and experience relevant to your goals

A current resume or curriculum vitae (CV), listing any of the following:

Three recommendation letters, submitted by your letter writers via the online application management system. Please choose individuals who are either familiar with your academic performance or have supervised you in anthropology or science-related activities and research.
Official transcripts, showing any and all undergraduate and graduate coursework
Official results from the GRE are optional for students that possess a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher. Official results must be submitted by the testing agencies. For those submitting scores, a minimum combined score of 300 and a writing score of 4.0 or higher is preferred. Official results must be submitted by the testing agencies.
Official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required for all international students.
International students whose undergraduate coursework was not completed at an English-speaking institution must achieve a minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL or 6.5 on the IELTS. Official scores must be submitted by the testing agency.
