The Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Cultures program advances the study of languages and cultures around the world. Students develop advanced proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, Classical Greek, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, and/or Russian while studying the art, culture, film, folklore, literature, music, mythology, religion and theatre of the areas where these languages are spoken. Are you a prospective student or currently taking German. Are you a school teacher in German or Social Studies, or a community member seeking to brush up your language skills. Are you a business person with Kentucky-German ties or a native German speaker. You are cordially invited to join us in our various intellectual, social, and cultural events such as German panel lectures and discussions at the Kentucky Foreign Language Conference, the conference of the Kentucky German Business Council, the Goethe Institute examinations, the September-Bratfest, the Winterfest in December, and the annual Awards Ceremony in April.
