The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a versatile degree that offers maximum flexibility for combining. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree often have additional majors in biology, chemistry, history, economics, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, pre-dentistry, global studies, psychology, and many more. With fewer course requirements than the Bachelor of Music degree, this degree is perfect for students wishing to study music at the collegiate level while also pursuing another area of study. The Voice Area at UNC boasts a long tradition of excellence and vitality. All of our voice studios are housed in Kenan Music Building (opened in 2008). Encompassing 80-90 voice students and two sections of class voice, the area is thriving. In recent years, the Voice Area has hosted clinicians including Metropolitan Opera stars, Christine Goerke, Anthony Dean Griffey, Nathan Gunn, Dawn Upshaw, David Daniels, Frederica von Stade, and Angela Brown. Other recent clinicians include Gabriel Kahane, Elizabeth Bishop, Patricia Miller, Donna Roll, Eric Mitchko, John Patrick, and Michael Maniaci, as well as Karen Hall and George Shirley via Skype.
