Bachelor of Education in Teacher Education - Primary/Junior division (K to Grade 6)

The Faculty of Education's Teacher Education offers the Bachelor of Education, full-time or part-time. This program prepares students for instruction in Ontario's French-language elementary and secondary schools. The curriculum that prepares for teaching in elementary schools is generalist in nature, while the curriculum leading to secondary education takes a more specialized approach. Each program has specific academic requirements and admission procedures.
Initial teacher education is the first step for people wishing to become teachers. The articulation between theory and practice is at the heart of the programs and is articulated through the concerted alternation between the university and school environments. In keeping with the University's mission to serve the Franco-Ontarian community, the Faculty proposes an openness to the expression of the diversification of values and the needs of pedagogical practices by feeding reflection on the culture and dynamism of this community living in a minority environment.
Teacher education programs comply with the regulations for obtaining the Certificate of Qualification and Registration and the Professional Designation of the Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).

Undergraduate university degree
Must be accredited by a body, such as a provincial ministry of education, or a ministry of higher education and scientific research or of national education, that has the authority to approve a university degree. Your program must have been accredited at the time you graduated.
In Canada: a university degree of at least 90 credits (or 15 credits if the university uses a 0.5 and 1.0 credit-weight system per course) or a four-year honours bachelor at an Ontario college
Abroad: a university degree of at least 180 ECTS in the same program (e.g., licentiate, engineering degree).

Foreign degrees or diplomas we dont accept:
State diploma issued by an institution not authorized to grant a university degree (e.g., Ministry of Health)
So-called university level degrees not provided in a university
European Bachelor of Vocational Training (e.g., Institutions accredited by FEDE)
Non-university degree leading to a profession
BAC + 3 level diploma from higher education establishments not accredited by a ministry of higher education and scientific research or national education
University type court degree, even of 180 ECTS (e.g., Hautes coles)
Diploma of 30, 60 or 120 ECTS (e.g., Master 1, Master 2, Professional Master, DESS, matrise of 120 ECTS)
BT, BTS, DEES, DEUG, DSEP, DST, DUEL, DUES, DUT, DST, Gradu, Troisime Graduat
Combined diplomas (e.g., DEUG of 120 ECTS + master of 60 ECTS)



Average
Your average counts for 50% of our admission decision. Make sure that you have the required minimum average. If it is less than the minimum required, your file can be refused.

Studies in Canada: at least 70% in your best 10 full-year or 20 one-term undergraduate university courses completed by September 1 of the year before you enrol. Courses completed after September 1 are not recalculated once available in January or April. If you are refused, you will need to improve your marks before you reapply. Courses required to satisfy a teaching subject are not included in the calculation if they are not in the top 20. However, if you have completed less than 20 courses, all those completed by that date are calculated. College, CEGEP and graduate studies are not included.
Studies abroad: at least 70%, based on your undergraduate university annual grade point average (for example, 11/20, pass or satisfactory)

TOEFL- Internet-based test with a minimum of 24 in each of the four skills
IELTS- minimum of 7.0 in each of the four skills
