You can study for an MPhil or MRes over one year, or a PhD over the course of three years. There are postgraduate research opportunities in all our research groups: Applied Analysis, Continuum Mechanics & Industrial Mathematics, Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, Population Modelling & Epidemiology, Stochastic Analysis You can study an MRes in: Mathematical Sciences. Mathematics and statistics are at the heart of all scientific and engineering disciplines, and we have a strong international reputation in the use of modelling and analysis to solve many problems relevant to industry, business and wider society. We work with researchers in other universities, from other disciplines and from industry, business and government sectors, across the UK, Europe, China and the USA.
The research group is focused on using various mathematical approaches to bring new scientific insight to problems in manufacturing, medicine, geology, and beyond. The group's research is multidisciplinary, with members having expertise in continuum mechanics, material science, fluid dynamics, and mathematical modelling in general, leading to collaborations with physicists, engineers, chemists and a range of industrial partners, and is directly relevant to Strathclyde's strategic research themes in Advanced Manufacturing & Materials, Energy, and Measurement Science & Enabling Technologies.
